New Pearl Jam album
The new single from Pearl Jam hit the radio yesterday, although I’ve heard that it’s already been playing for the past two weeks. I’m beyond ecstatic about the upcoming album. The new single, “I Am Mine” will be released October 8 with the B-side, “Down”. November 12 is the official release (so far) for the new album “RIOT ACT”. I’m now slipping into a Beck, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam coma. W00T!
Update: Pearl Jam will release Riot Act on November 12, and every week until then there will be a countdown with the online premiere of a new track from the album. Listen to the first single, “I Am Mine,” now at: PearJam.com and keep checking back next week for another one. That is if you don’t already have the album.

Well, I have been a die hard Pearl Jam Fan since Mother Love Bone! This album, however, has finally done it. It’s pretty bad. Way to mellow. I was hoping they would have figured out that Ten was their best album and maybe Its time to go back to that style of music. Oh well, they lost me with this one.

I’m tired of hearing everyone hoping that PJ would return to their “Ten” roots. Yeah, it was a great, ground-breaking album, but all bands evolve. It’s my opinion that PJ has become much more musically refined and has strived to separate their sound from the mainstream. I really enjoy Yield and Binaural and actually listen to them more than any of their other albums. I do, however, understand how if someone grew to love PJ in their early days, they would want to hear that style. Their sound has changed a lot, but I think it would be wrong for them to try to sound like their past. Emotion is a huge part of writing (good) music. To successfully incorporate emotion into writing, it must be in the here and now.

Pearl Jam is the most talented band of our times. What Eddie Vedder has written and expressed is pure life saving poetry. For anyone that can only relate to Pearl Jam’s TEN I want to express a few words- you are not a true PJ fan. Some so called fans wanted the band to stay “grunge” but like life- things change- and I for one think Pearl Jam is as brillant as they ever were.

I couldn’t agree more, vmw. Personally, I think they are better than they ever were.

I’ve been a PJ fan for …jesus, has it been a decade?! Damn, I’m getting old. I personally get irritated when people say, “they haven’t put out a good album since ten”. Every album they release gets better and better. There music evolves every album and I like them twice as much every time.
Yeh, Ten was an excellent, ground breaking album, but it’s old. They’ve put out some really great stuff since then. A bah-zillion times better than half the stuff they play on the radio these days.
ANother thing that I hate, the only songs they play on the radio (here at least) is Jeremy and Alive. Christ. I love Pearl Jam, but give me a break. They don’t even like performing these songs any more!

For those so-called PJ die-hard fans who are
still having the hang-over of the “ten” days,
wake up, dude! Music is an evolution, and PJ
is just being perfectly normal. I am highly
ecstatic about “riot act” and looking forward
to the official release date.

Eddie and the gang are the best thing since sliced bread and have never and couldn’t release a bad song. They rock in every sense of the word. Eddie is a misunderstood genius!!!!

Let’s be real about PJ. They have had some highlights throughout their albums, however they
have been unlistenable at times. Ten was good, Vs. was amazing. Vitalogy was uneven but had some great songs. No Code was awesome. Yield at first was not very good but over time became a great album. Binaural was weak at best, I never thought
Eddie and the boys could alienate there fans the way they did on the last album.
The new single is amazing and I hope the new album is as well.

I love pearl jam i never heard a better band that would ever be as emotional as them there lyrics really touched me. BUT
I have heard there stuff from Vitology and Bin. i have them
they are not that good in my opinion but the Vs. and Ten albums are the best albums ive ever heard heavy and mellow grand albums.
They are the best cover band to. like they did an best covers. Crown of thorns, baba o riley, last kiss very good covers i have heard there new song “i am mine” and i love it man very good.
I loved the some of the songs on the Vitology album like Better man (i actuall heard that on my radio and all they ever play is pop shit. i was in the doctors.)
Nothing man, immortality, and corduroy. grand songs Is that a neil young cover? cause it sounds like his music very good if it was there own made up stuff and made it sound that accurate.
but when ever they play a heavy song they really suck but i notice the chorus are very pretty i just wish all there songs where like the chorus. (not evacuation)

I am the greatest fucking fan
that ever existed. I am from Argentina. i damn place that you all don’t even know that exist. And a place where PJ will never jam. But I love this guys. Their music rocks!
and it will always be like that to me….they’re like the life itself. They change..they grow up…they get old…with us…with the music…did you like ten? yeah well…it was a great album
FUCK OFF!!! go out there and buy some “zeppelin-sabbath” album…it was simply their begining. RIOT ACT is their….us….NOW. AND IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! IT MAKES YOU CRY!!! LAUGH!!! FEEL!!! ALL!!!!

I didn’t yet here the whole Riot Act record except to three songs: I Am Mine, Love Boat Captain and Save You, and these three already I tell you kick the shit out of all the crap they’ve been playing on the radio for the last like 5 years.
PJ are just getting more and more brilliant. I agree with those who say, that liking just the TEN album is not really being a Pearl Jam fan. I believe that songs which composed Ten were actually weaker in the musical and emotional sense than what followed in Vs. and especially Yield. I can’t believe you guys saying something like: “Yield at first was very good, but over time it got better”. That’s just nonsense. Yield is so far the most musically accoplished record they ever released. I mean, songs like Given to Fly, and In Hiding, and MFC, and Push me, Pull Me — they’re all fucking masterpieces.
I’ve read some reviews on the upcoming album. I personally welcome every innovation the band are bringing into their music.
And yes, Pearl Jam is the best rock band there is. They’ve had some downfalls, lets’ admit it, but hey, who hasn’t. But they’re still a step ahead of everyone else — in creativity, in lyrics, in passion, in every sense.

I couldnt be more excited about the latest album and tour news.
I too am sick of explaining pearl jam to people. people hear me mention them and immediately go on and on about how they havent put out a good album since vs.
I love vs. and ten and always will but just because a band isnt a slave to MTV and mainstream pop rock, doesnt mean they arent good anymore. actually give a listen to these albums and you will see.
i agree that vitalogy is a tad uneven but some unbelievable songs. no code overall was a bit of a step back but songs like present tense, off he goes and hail hail are incredible. i absolutely loved yield and think in hiding is one of their best efforts to date. binaural was not as spectacular as yield, but good nonetheless.
pearl jam has no peers as the best band in the last 15 years. not even close. stop being a slave to pop music and listen to albums before passing judgement.

Can’t wait to hear the new album. I was a little disappointed by Binaural but not because I crave the days of Ten. I thought Vs. was the best but Yield runs it close. Binaural was just a bit too experimental - what PJ do best is just great songs. On Binaural it seemed like they’d been listening too much to the idiots who say they’d gone too mainstream. Why do we need to label bands all the time? So called grungers should remember that Kurt Cobain had the most eclectic musical taste known to man, (whatever he might have said to the contrary in his interviews!) He mixed The Beatles with Metallica, there’s no need for the grunge bands to stick to a formula. PJ just need to be natural and great songs will be the result. Roll on Monday…

Hey you guys! Quit on the pretentious teenage angst stuff. And y’all need to learn how to spell. Pearl Jam are a good band, but spending time discussing whether only liking Ten makes you a Pearl Jam fan smacks of having petty ‘ownership’ issues. And that blows real bad. Peace Out!
