It’s Just Dam Work!

“Knowing these realities, America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof — the smoking gun — that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.” -George W. Bush, October 7, 2003

WMD Missing Oh wait, he was referring to Iraq and the WMD’s he wished Iraq had. Okay- scratch the quote, I guess that would be an inappropriate intro to the recent news article regarding the mysterious explosion with an uncanny resemblance to a mushroom cloud found in North Korea. Typically seen after a nuclear explosion.

But don’t be silly, although nobody knows just exactly what it was…they’re pretty certain it’s not a nuclear weapon. Besides, they assure us that it’s just dam work.

And you believe them, don’t you?

Even though Kim Jong II has made many appearances over the years in the US news, bragging of his missiles, even his long-range nuclear missiles that can reach the US, this doesn’t mean you should jump to any conclusions and expect the worst.

And North Korea has publicly threatened the United States with a pre-emptive attack last year.

And while North Korea kicked out international inspectors and withdrew itself from the global treaty to stop the spread of nuclear weapons.

There is absolutely no reason for anybody to suspect that North Korea might be a threat. After all, North Korea IS NOT in the middle east.

Everyone knows it’s easier to disarm the unarmed.

first, there are ways of easily determining whether it was a nuclear test or not.

Second, you simplify the matter. NK, as a nation, has not invaded a neighboring country in half-a-century, Iraq did (SA, Kuwait and Iran). It was not under UN resolutions concerning it’s weapons program, Iraq was and was in non-compliance (something that necessitated an invasion). NK also has a major power-player on it’s border, China, which we can convince to keep them in check or invade if necessary, Iraq had no comprable power-player on it’s border.

You seem to read a lot on international affairs for someone who has absolutely zero knowledge of geopolitics and history.

is this guy sitting around and playing risk all day? how do you attract such pompous ignorance to your site?

  3. Whew! Well that was fun trip into your warped reality of geopolitics and world history! Thanks for your powerful insight Professor Scott!

Silly me for not understanding America’s strategic game plan for international affairs!

  4. Hey Scott… Have you read the news lately about Iran? During Bush’s administration more countries have restarted their nuclear programs for fear of pre-emptive strikes… oh.. and lets not count the 9000 ?!?! Iraq’s that have died due to United States negligence, incompetence or for fun. Plus, the families, friends and neighbors of all the fallen Iraq’s…. Just put a bullseye on my head and call me American.

  5. One more thing Scott… THERE ARE WAYS OF DETERMINING IF IT WAS A NUCLEAR TEST OR NOT… You are absolutely correct… other companies, I mean countries, are already stating that they believe it was a nuclear test, but the United States has not be able to fully investigate what took place, and you know the curernt administration’s policy on assuming things that other countries are doing. They want all the information and facts before making assumptions… yes, i believe that is what I love most about the admisitration… their keen attention to detail.
