Playstation 2 + Linux = Proof of God?
So the Playstation 2 has limited edition colored consoles, available in blue, yellow, metallic silver, red, and white. They’re blinging.
Anyhow, as I further peruse Playstation.com (fulfilling my undying desire to actually own a PS2) I gaze over to the right and see this, “Linux Kit for Playstation 2″. [Insert immense drooling here]
The website says the price for this kit has been set at $199.00. With that you get:
- Linux Kit (for PlayStation 2) release 1.0 software
- Monitor Cable Adaptor (for PlayStation 2) (with Audio Connectors)
- Internal Hard Disk Drive (40 GB) (for PlayStation 2)
- Network Adaptor (Ethernet) (for PlayStation 2) [10/100 Base-T]
- USB Keyboard (for PlayStation 2) & USB Mouse (for PlayStation 2)
Obviously, you’re paying mostly for all the hardware. I believe you can get a free distro of the Linux kernel for the PS2 anyway. [More info on the kit]
I can feel the Xbox enthusiast’s hatred already.
Verdict:
Playstation 2: 1
Xbox: 0
