I Love the Internets.com is a weblog mostly about technology, personal interests, and various noteworthy items I've found pilfering through the vast internets.

Amaze.fm - Get Your Music Heard

Amaze.fm allows artists to upload their music where it will be listened to, rated, reviewed, and tagged by the community.

Each week the highest rated song will get played on a nationally-syndicated radio station. Very cool for aspiring musicians who want to get their music out there!

Pearl Jam

Operation Sink the Pirate Act

Sink the Pirate Act Ahoy! Uncle John Ashcroft wants the Depratment of Justice to setup a program to bust file sharers. Woo Yay for frivelous ways to spend tax dollars. Taxpayers are to foot the bill for civil suits to protect business.

From the EFF:

“The PIRATE Act (S.2237) is yet another attempt to make taxpayers fund the misguided war on file sharing, and it’s moving fast. The bill would allow the government to file civil copyright lawsuits in addition to criminal prosecutions, dramatically lowering the burden of proof and adding to the thousands of suits already filed by record companies. It would also force the American public to pay the legal bills of foreign record companies like Bertelsmann, Vivendi Universal, EMI, and Sony. Meanwhile, not a penny from the lawsuits goes to the artists.”

Send a quick letter to your senators and tell them what you think about the Pirate Act.

It won’t be long before file sharing becomes a felony, I’m sure. I mean, afterall, P2P and file sharing is a gateway application to terrorism, child abuse, and pedophilia. (That Sen. Hatch is completely whacked out)

Hum Recognition software

The inventors of the MP3 have come up with “hum recognition” software, that will allow you to simply hum into a microphone that pesky song in your head that you just cant remember the name of. [Read more]

An update?

I’ve been working on a new layout, which rather explains my lack of updating. Okay- that’s just a cheap excuse but it’s partially true. I suppose I’ll have the new layout finished eventually.

I’m currently listening to Nadia’s kickass radio show. Fun filled two hours of nonstop musical bliss. You must listen every Wednesday 2PM-4PM EST. That is a direct order.

For you 9/11 enthusiasts, I was emailed a link to 911Timeline.net which gives extensive minute-by-minute accounts from September 11. It’s quite a lengthy read but has some good links and what not.

I was looking up information for the upcoming Pearl Jam album (okay- I was looking for a pre-release…so shoot me) and happened upon an interesting article about pre-release albums on the internet. Apparently, they are shipping the promo CDs to reviewers already glued into walkmans. Amongst the albums apart of this are the new Pearl Jam and Tori Amos CDs. Who needs the RIAA when you have super glue!

New Pearl Jam album

Cover Art: New Pearl Jam single The new single from Pearl Jam hit the radio yesterday, although I’ve heard that it’s already been playing for the past two weeks. I’m beyond ecstatic about the upcoming album. The new single, “I Am Mine” will be released October 8 with the B-side, “Down”. November 12 is the official release (so far) for the new album “RIOT ACT”. I’m now slipping into a Beck, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam coma. W00T!

Update: Pearl Jam will release Riot Act on November 12, and every week until then there will be a countdown with the online premiere of a new track from the album. Listen to the first single, “I Am Mine,” now at: PearJam.com and keep checking back next week for another one. That is if you don’t already have the album. :-P

Backstage pass

The Smoking Gun - This site posts excerpts from the backstage riders of a bunch of performers. The documents include specifications on stage design, sound systems, lighting rigs, as well as an artist’s wish list–from transportation and billing to dressing room accommodations and meals.

Some of the artist’s personal requests are a bit bizarre. J. Lo requires her dressing room to be all white: white flowers, white tables, white drapes, white candles, white couches, etc. Whereas the New Kids on the Block asked that parents and relatives be charged for doughnuts and coffee. Eddie Vedder makes his own smoothies before the show. Snoop Dog’s request labeled “VERY IMPORTANT” is to have a complete playstation with various sports games from 1999.

The site has a bunch of other stuff as well. Interesting for someone who has absolutely nothing else to do online.

Now for something competely different

Dictionaraoke - This is an odd site, I’ve yet to figure out the purpose of it. Listen to your favorite songs sung by online dictionaries? They have songs from many genres, from Rage Against the Machine to Britney Spears to Slayer to Snoop Doggy Dog to Tori Amos.

Muzak

Today at 2:00PM - 4:00PM EST, my friend nadia will doing her radio show once again and you can listen on the web. You can listen to the live feed by visiting the radiostation’s page here. It’s real player (I know, that blows) but she’ll be playing great stuff like a lot of chick bands and what not. She also takes requests. ;)
